Jacob Gray was accused of shooting George Gray with apistol, killing him. George was seen walking toward his house at sundown, then discovered later lying in a field 100 yards from his house. Jacob, or Jake, was in the house with his mother when his father came into the dark house. They went out and George was discovered dead. Jacob confessed, but had no explaination for why he shot his father. |

Charlie Collins a black man, was present at the fight and appeared testifying as a witness for the prosecution. |

The State charged Ed Burton with the August 1893 shooting and murder of William (Bud) Burns at a Mr. Jackson's picnic in Murfreesboro. Burns' brother testified that Bud was shot after dancing and calling a set at the picnic when he was standing by the lemonade stand. Other witnesses said Burns was drinking and had a knife out when words were exchanged between he and Burton. |

Logan Perry, referred to in the case as "colored," was accused of assaulting James Saunders with a pistol, shooting him in the neck and chest. The assault resulted in Saunders' death. Saunders and his cousin hired Perry to pick cotton on their farm. They had a disagreement one day. A witness saw them later that day, Perry telling Saunders that he had to treat him better. Saunders told him to go, and Perry pulled the gun. Saunders chased him with a timber, Perry shot him. Died six days later. |
