Simerly and Lyle executed a note to plaintiff Peoples in 1860 for $2,000. Peoples sued for repayment of the note plus interest and court costs. Peoples tells the court that Lyle is the owner of a "negro girl about six years old, name not known" and considerable other property and land. Peoples requested their lands and property be sold to pay the debt. |
