Buchanan to a debt of $325.54 for goods and previously recovered a judgment against him and the other defendants for the amounts of their debt. The defendants then created a false affidavit stating they were to receive money from the plaintiff per a judgment.

Case is dispute over a $12 note taken out by Alva Shoemaker from John H. Luck, an agent for Henderson Smith Co. who sold a product called "Orchilla Guard". Shoemaker claimed the product did not work to improve his cotton crop.

View Entry 1887 State and P. P. Pickard v. S. P. Cook, Sheriff of Loudon County, et al Loudon Debt on Account

P. P. Pickard was comptroller for the state, who sued S. P. Cook and several men who were sureties for the "official bond" of Cook as sheriff, who was appointed Sept 1, 1884. Pickard alleged that Cook broke his bond to the County when his deputy and jailor, Joe D. Foute (who was the immediate predecessor of Cook as sheriff) who illegally and fraudulently overcharged the state accounts. See ET1848 case "State & P. P. Pickard v. Joe D. Foute, et al"

View Entry 1887 The Farmer's & Trader's Bank v. H. H. Crockett et al Sumner Debt on Account

3 folders. Add. defendants: Mrs. Willie Crockett, James T. Baber, and William Cantrell. Defendant is a business merchant who opened an account with the bank and became indebted to them. Crockett claimed he was coming into a large sale, but money from such sale was never paid to the bank. The bank loaned money to buy merchant goods, and Crockett testified that he would settle debts to his in-laws before the bank. Includes assignment of error appeal filed by plaintiff.
