In 1864, Moses and Henriette Sternberger were married in Philadelphia, PA. They moved to Brownsville, TN in 1885, established a grocery and liquor business. Mrs. Sternberger later opened business under her own name. Sternberger sued by Bernheim Bros. for unpaid debt on account of $96.43, with interest. Lawsuit appealed to TN Supreme Court.

Plaintiff operates a tailoring business our of her home; charges that defendants refuse to pay her for $14.50 worth of clothes that she made for them. Defendants state that she had contracted with them to make the clothes and , in exchange, the bill would be paid in shoes for herself & her children.

View Entry 1898 W. W. Robinette & Neal Church v. S. S. Robinette, et al. Hancock Debt on Account

SS Robinette had agreed to provide sawed lumber to Harrison Webb, totally 150 timber trees for $750. Webb paid $350 of that amount, and S. S. Robinett put a lien on the remainder of the timber. Webb then sold the lumber to W. W. Robinette, but did not own it free and clear.
