This case centers around a debt of $10,830.44 which is said to be owed on a running account

Cover and first page are missing. Campbell & Donovan are owners of the Humboldt Canning Co. Plaintiffs are lessees of the Sharon Canning Co. Complaint is concerned with a debt incurred before one member of the firm died.

Complainants charged that Throp owed $2,000 for board, washing & ironing between 1865 and 1875. Depositions given by A. T. Debow & W. T. Williams & T. T. Stovall.

The defendant operated a Georgia business, Concord Nurseries, to which the plaintiffs owed $245.00.

Wheeler indebted to Smith for $331.25 for goods provided, failing to complete a promise to make good on the money owed. This case may be related to later Knox Cty Chancery case between same parties (who were also in partnership w/each other, as merchants in trade dba Smith & Wheeler. Knox Cty case located in ET Box 1261.

Complainant was employed by McKnight and Merz to furnish all material, labor, tools, erect and complete brick work for the First Methodist Episcopal Church according to the architect plans for a sum of $6000.00. Complainant was only paid $3,360.00 dollars.

Addtl pltf: McDonnell Construction Co. Addtl dfnt: R. G. Amo and S. M. Williamson & Co. The dfnts. contracted with pltf. to build a two-story duplex on the northeast corner of N. Parkway & Stonewall Streets in Memphis. Pltf. asserted dfnts. Continually added extras to the building during the construction, raising the end price.After an exchange of credit, bounced check, promises of increased payment, and a claim of cash payment, pltf. sued to recover $9,161.34. Exhibit materials are bank bonds. The plaintiff and his company are indebted to the defendant in the sum of $15 by account.

Cause of Action: Plea of Debt for account under $1,000. In the original case, Gamble was the plaintiff and Trimble the defendant. The court sided with Gamble. Trimble has brought forth this appeal. Eventually Trimble dismissed the appeal.

Brooking [Bracking?] sued Spofford for $1500 debt for professional services as a physician rendered her daughter, Eleanor Spofford during the year 1887; Eleanor was sent to the physician in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment of a disease. 2 folders.

Moreland sued Williams to collect debt he owed for Moreland's services in fixing an electric fan. Judgment rendered in Moreland's favor for $21. Williams asked for new trial, claiming new evidence--3 witnesses (Jim Finley, Tom Tomlinson, Bob McKinney)-- who would testify one of them was always present at Williams' place of business & Moreland never notified them that motor Williams repaired was not performing satisfactorily (as Moreland had claimed). SC affirmed judgment for Moreland.

Plaintiff's firm is comprised of J. A. Lay and Carey Lay. Add. Defendants: Wife, Mrs. B. Y. (Lillian) Wilson, R. N. Morris, J. B. Felsenthal, & William Kinney. R. N. Morris was employed by B. Y. Wilson by contract to repair certain additions to his house. Morris agreed to be paid $2,400 for labor and materials. Plaintiffs were employed by Morris to furnish material, but were not paid for what they supplied for the project, totaling $292.07.

Stallings contracted and sold to Rooks one lot of ash timber cut into saw logs to be delivered at Gates,TN. The defendant took up the logs and branded them and paid the complainant 1143.12 leaving a balance of 1624.56. In August of 1920, the price of the logs on the market declined and the defendant refused to accept or pay for any more logs even though he had branded the logs. 3 folders.

J. I. Case Threshing Machine Co. is a business in Wisconsin, qualified to do business in TN. In February, 1915, the defendant entered into a contract with complainant to purchase from the complainant a 40 horse power gas and oil tractor. The defendant exe cited 12 notes totaling $1900.00 for the tractor. Two of the notes were paid by Shellabarger. The remaining balance was not paid. The complainant asks that he be allowed to sell the tractor to recoup the outstanding monies.
