Prior to that time, Thomas Batey was his guardian (1868-1881) and collected rents on his behalf. Upon a court ordered settlement of the trust, Batey owed the minor Edwards $about $2000, but was insolvent. His new guardian sued Batey and his securities to recover the debt. |

Gammons agreed to sell to this firm the cattle they were then taking to market, but to date the firm has paid only $4,000 of the $10,664.75 selling price. Absalom Flourer has since died & Thomas is his admr. |

Lipscomb (age 88) witnessed O.H. signing note. In separate lunacy proceeding, Abel ruled incompetent; his child M.C. Smith appointed his guardian. Witnesses: Mary Smith (41), wife of Abel's son T.J.; W.H. Edens, Abel's grandson, O.H.'s nephew; Levi G. Smith, Abel's son; A.J. Grisson, Abel's grandson. Court ruled in Abel's favor; SC affirmed. |

Verdict for the plaintiff for payment in the sum of $499 as paperwork states she was up to date on her payments. |
