Exhibits: 3 - large calendars, bulletin, 2 - pamphlets from U.S. Department of Labor. Plaintiff sued for overtime compensation and an equal amount of liquidated damages.

View Entry 1873 Daniel Bales v. Peter Harmon Greene Petitions for Certiorari

Daniel Bales sued Peter Harmon for allegedly unlawfully detained land from the Bales. Because of difficulties in the case proceedings, petitions for certiorari and supersedes were filed. Bales also issued an action of ejectment against Harmon.

Petition for certiorari. Relative to several judgements by local justice in 24 June 1859 against plaintiff, $104.43. Mentions payment for services by John Keys, Sec. & Treas., ETV&G RR, in Confederate currency, Aug. 1862, and refusal to accept CSA bank notes.

View Entry 1853 Hugh D. Hale v. Catherine Williams, admr. of William Dickson & exe. Alexander Williams Greene Petition for Injunction

Plaintiff asks the court for in injunction preventing Alexander Williams, admr. of estate of William Dickson, from recovering upon a $1171.12 1/2 judgment against him. Hale a former business partner of Dickson, who died intestate ca. 1842. Alexander Williams now also dec'd., leaving Catherine Williams Dickson's admr. & also exor. & sole devisee of Alexander Williams.

View Entry 1860 Hugh D. Hale v. Thomas L. Hale Greene Petitions for Certiorari

Continuation of case Thomas L. Hale v. Hugh D. Hale that took place in Chancery Court in Green County in 1857 for debt dispute. Court had ruled in Hugh D. Hale's favor for $193.30. Thomas L. Hale now appealing. The judgment was removed by certiorari. Hugh entered motion to dismiss petition for certiorari. This case sued over a note belonging to Allen Baker, which was ignored by jury in previous case. Supreme Court ruled in Thomas's favor for $565.10.

Case pertains to disagreements concerning a new road in Greene County. Andrew Susong Jr. is the son of Andrew Susong, an Alsatian (French) man who sailed to the colonies with The Marquis de Lafayette to fight in the Revolutionary War.

Cause of action in this case is listed as writ of certiorari. There is a dispute between the two parties as to whether or not a judgment rendered in a previous case has been met. The men exchanged horses as part of the settlement in the previous case. There is dispute among the men about the value of one said horse and whether or not the horse was presented as more valuable that it actually is.
