Malden Judge of 14th Judicial Circuit of TN which includes Lauderdale Co. In Oct. 1902 relator Barfield tried & found guilty of 2nd degree murder of R. H. Hammonds & sentenced to 20 years. Barfield charges defendant made material changes to his attorneys' bill of exceptions that negatively affected the outcome of his case. He is petitioning for writ of mandamus to compel defendant to sign a "true, full, fair & correct" bill of exceptions to be used at a new trial.
