Daniels was charged, with two others, for robbing a Mr. Burch. Burch came up from Monroe, Louisiana, with a man named Spears to find work as a tie cutter near Chisholm Lake. Burch and Spears got Daniels, Mr. Russell, and Mr. Dunavent to drive them out to Chisholm Lake. Russell and Dunavant are accused of assaulting Burch to rob him. The defendants claimed that they were not trying to rob him but trying to make him get back in the car when a fight ensued as Burch was drunk at the time. |
