Complainants the heirs of Edwin Praird assert that they are entitled to the interest of Robert Easly by virtue of a levy made on his interest. Respondent denies that he died intestate, he denies that the interest was subject to a levy and so charges that the whole proceedings in the Circuit Court was void because the levy referred to was made under an ancillary attachment. |

William Ferris died in 1861. The original admr. named in his will refused the duty & Layton was appointed. Layton failed to settle debts left by the estate. Layton was sued to recover $141 dollars in debt due from the estate to its lenders. The heirs expressed frustration at Layton's failure, but all money left by the estate had been used, and the heirs did not want the Ferris land sold to pay the debts. |

John Wilson hired a surveyor to create a map of some land. There were errors found in the survey after it was registered with the state of North Carolina. Rutherford and the other defendants owned nearby land which effected the survey. Wilson sued to have this rectified. |

In 1867 Rexford sued for replevin in circuit court against Pulley. He attempted to recover an eight year old brown horse, damages due, or the value of these. However, Rexford was unhappy with the outcome, appealing the case, alleging errors in the proceedings. |

In the original suit, Ferguson bought land from his grandfather's estate. When his grandfather died he claimed that land. Goodlett also claimed the land because Ferguson had not paid his debt to him.
