Mrs. Brown sought to borrow $300 from Florence Watson who agreed to the loan--if Brown would pay $15 a month interest for twelve months. Things went downhill from there. When the Browns did not pay the entire sum by year's end, Watson demanded a $400 note at 10 per cent interest per month. Other plaintiffs: Albert Brown, W. T. Wilson, and Mrs. W. T. Wilson. The Browns and Wilsons charged usury. |

The promissory note was given for a 5 year lease of a plantation. Richardson claimed that Graffenried was released from the note by the purchaser of the plantation, W.M Daniel. McLemon claimed that he too was released when Daniel released Graffenried. |
