This case involves the title to a horse. Said horse was purchased by Ben Doss (col.) from John Boaz, brother of Sallie B. Barton, wife of C. L. Barton. Sallie Barton was also surety on said note. According to plaintiffs, Doss was to pay the note by completing work in their farm. Plaintiffs complain that Doss sold the horse to the defendant without ever working at the farm or paying for the horse. Plaintiffs are seeking ownership of the horse.

Property in question was 174 acres and lied partly in Davidson County and partly in Robertson County. It is noted that both parties are colored men. Additional defendants listed in file and are children and in-laws of Eliza Hooper (formerly Walker) & James Trimble was executor of the estate. Plaintiff states the deceased manipulated him into a marriage from a promise and separated from him after a few weeks together in name only. E. Hooper falsely claimed he mistreated her and filed for $25/month in alimony, and came to own the plaintiff's house. Filed to collect rent & taxes from his property.

Incomplete case file. Irvine sued for damage to his house as a result of heavy blazing by the lime works. However, Buquo accuses him of being upset due to the railroad station used to let out in front of Irvine's storefront, but it was moved to the front of the Buquo office. Case details damage done to area including chickens that laid bad eggs, & peaches shaken from trees due to blasting.

Add. defendants: Elizabeth Hamlet, John L. Nolen & Susie L. Nolan, Jesse S. Nolen & Bettie Nolan, & Mrs. Elizabeth V. Campbell. T.K. Griggs is the executor of the estate of Thomas Hamlet (dec.). The defendant Griggs sold land owned by the deceased to the plaintiffs as part of his executor duties. The plaintiffs used a road running through the land for 11 years without incident, although it was technically a dower for widow E.V. Campbell, who ordered two fences be placed on the road, blocking access.

Plaintiff and defendants each owned parcels of land located in lot 10 of Campbell’s Plan of South Nashville (registered on page 682 of Book "U" in the Davidson County Register's Office). Plaintiff brought suit complaining that the defendants unlawfully entered onto his property and erected a fence. Casefile provides a detailed chain of ownership for lot 10 beginning in 1831.
