Plaintiff was self-described "old woman" who owned County land within few miles of towns of Martin & Sharon, where Def. operated a gin. Through her agent, J.W. Thompson, Somers rented her land to Jesse Burrs, who cultivated cotton on the land. Burrs sub rented the land to the Thedfords, who sold cotton from the land to Def. Burrs didn't pay his rent, so Somers sued Def. because Def. held the cotton derived from the land. |

However, he had made an agreement with Polly's brother John that she was to be well provided for following Barclay's death. Although John bought land for Wm. & Polly, the land was never legally turned over. Polly sued for rights to the inheritance. Includes Barclay's probate inventory.
