Schwab claims Bounds has improperly detained $200 of Schwab's personal property (clothing, books, carpet bag, umbrellas, other personal property). First jury couldn't agree so mistrial declared. Second jury ruled in Schwab's favor. Bounds appealed. Julius Ochs testified: Schwab acquired the property at issue from Frank Houseman, who owned small store in Knoxville (S. Levi & Bros) & wanted to sell out his stock. Goods later attached as Housman's property & replevied; this suit ensued. |

Roberts Auto Service is a taxi co. operating in the City of Knoxville. Mayme and Ernest were in negotiations to purchase a building to lease to Carl R. Roberts Undertaking Co. at the time of the suit. |

Holloway brought the original suit claiming that Griffith was unlawfully detaining his horse. Holloway employed Griffith to represent him in a separate suit and agreed to pay him by transferring a note held against Ransom Smith. Griffith later complained that the suit was more work than originally agreed upon and demanded the horse in controversy as payment. Holloway claims that Griffith took his horse to assess its value but failed to return it. |

Persica sued the sheriff to replevin property he had seized as result of a court judgment against Annie's husband John Persica. Items included bar fixtures from her saloon: counters, a whisky case, bar mirrors, ice boxes, an iron safe, a piano, and set of barber fixtures consisting of mirrors and 3 barber chairs. It was decided that the sheriff acted illegally because the saloon contents belonged to Mrs. Persica. There are 2 copies of the 10-page statement of case. Two sets of brads could not be removed. |
