Persica sued the sheriff to replevin property he had seized as result of a court judgment against Annie's husband John Persica. Items included bar fixtures from her saloon: counters, a whisky case, bar mirrors, ice boxes, an iron safe, a piano, and set of barber fixtures consisting of mirrors and 3 barber chairs. It was decided that the sheriff acted illegally because the saloon contents belonged to Mrs. Persica. There are 2 copies of the 10-page statement of case. Two sets of brads could not be removed. |

However Lee began having problems with the machine and refused to pay the second payment. The Betts Machine Co. now seeks to take back possession of the machine. They state that the contract specified that they would retain the title to the machine and could take back possession if payments were not made. |

C.L. Montgomery is sued a writ of replevin against J.H. McCracken et al. for one Dodge Touring Car. The car was sold by John H. Wright to J.H. McCracken. In order to purchase car, Wright borrowed money from Montgomery. Although car was in process of being sold, Wright sold it again to another party, who again sold it to G.R. Miller. A. J. Leopold leased more than 50 pieces of home furnishings from Armstrong. At the end of the lease, Leopold had the option of buying the items. This was providing all payments were made on time; they weren't, so furnishings were repossessed by Security Bank of Memphis. Sheriff took possession of the goods. Testimony: J. C. Armstrong & Miss A. M. Littig (also identified as A. M. Little). Since the furnishings are listed, this case provides valuable information about the material culture of the period. |
