Phipps sought to recover 25-30 thousand feet of oak and poplar lumber from O. B. Bynum. Phipps owned a portable steam saw mill and agreed to saw and stack 1 million feet of logs for Bynum, who would furnish the wood at yards on the Clay Solitude farm. A contract gave Phipps a lien on the lumber until his bill was paid, but it was never registered. Phipps sawed and stacked about 800,000 feet. Bynum took part of the lumber to raft to market, but Richardson levied it to satisfy an execution on Bynum. |

Wm. Finnie owed Monaghon on a $200 note. In substitute, Finnie turned over to the plaintiff a large number of soda water bottles & cases. When Monaghon went to retrieve the items, the storage place had been locked by a sheriff's watchman who claimed to be in possession of the property under an attachment levied by the Bank of Commerce. |

An act of replevin to recover the possession of a mule. The mule was valued at $30, and damages for detention at $15. In 1891, the defendant Smith executed to plaintiff a mortgage in which he conveyed certain assets including tobacco, corn and sorghum, in a note of $325. There was also a landlord's lien on the tobacco included. Brinkley was allowed to keep title to bay horse mule. |

J. J. Hargrave was the wife of J. B. Hargrave. W. H. Hyronemous obtained a judgment against J. B. and J. J. Hargrave in the case of "W. H. Hyronemous v. B. H. Hargrave, et al." As a result, an execution was levied upon plaintiff's stock of goods in their furniture store known as Hargrove Bros. located at 418 Broad St. in Nashville. Plaintiffs filed suit to replevin their property. J. B. Hargrave was the second husband of J. J. Hargrave. Her first husband (deceased) was named Smith. |

The Vinson plaintiffs sued defendant Donoho to contest his claim that I. N. Vinson confessed to owing the estate of Martha Borden $14. 96. Plaintiffs further protested the judgment against them on those grounds and the replevin/seizure of S. H. Vinson's yoke of oxen. The plaintiffs filed their own action of replevin to regain their property and appeal the judgment. |
