J. W. Wilkerson, the Marshal of Lenoir City asked John Glass to purchase whiskey from the Pla. in error in an attempt to see if he was illegally selling whiskey. Wilkerson succeeded in purchasing the whiskey and received a shipment several days later. Hix argues that Wilkerson made him believe the whiskey was for a sick relative and that he sold it to him out of kindness. Casefile includes a price list for various amounts and types of whiskey. The Whiskey in question was produced by the R. M. Rose Co. |

I. C. Grant made a deed in trust to A.D. Rhea, as security for creditor Warham Easley, partner in Easley & Jones. Grant & his wife then sold land to Easley, a part of Rhea's trust deed. Easley paid off the debt, Grant conveyed the land but did not pay off Rhea's trust deed. Easley had his own debts, & tried to get money from Grant through the law suit. The connection of Ingersoll and Seuter to Rhea, Easley, and Grant is unclear. |

Additional defendants: Louiza Q. Hall, John T. Carmichael, & Margaret B. Carmichael. Louiza Hall is James Hall's wife and John T. and Margaret Carmichael, minors, were Louiza's children by her first marriage with Daniel L. Carmichael, dec. Hall suing defendants over sale of land by Louiza to James H. Carmichael 2 days before their marriage of which he was entitled to by marriage. Hall wanted said sale be declared fraudulent and void and he restored to all legal rights to land. |
