Beeler was charged with the murder by gun of S. P. Greenlee, sheriff of Grainger Co. The murder was widely reported. John Walfinbar was also charged and placed in jail, but then lynched. Beeler was kept in Knox Co jail to prevent a lynching.

The Kennedy’s were accused of murdering James Thomas Lowrie. The specifics are not known. Josephus was found not guilty and General and John were hung. John Kennedy is also listed as John Davis. The first trial was held in Marion and then the Kennedys appealed to have the trial moved because they felt the jurors were prejudiced. In the end only John was found guilty.

Victim: Orvil Wilkins. Lillian Gardner, ex wife of defendant. They married October 4, 1921 in Hardin County. They had one child, Orvil Wilkins, deceased who died at the home of Gardner's stepfather, Bab Spencer. Gardner claimed that Wilkins often abused the baby who was only a few months old.

Case also involves Elsie Frey, "colored" who was also charged with the murder. The state alleged that Johnson Gaines "colored" assaulted Charley Smith with a "hickory stick" inflicting mortal wounds causing him to instantly die. The body was found in the Red River above Jackson, TN. He had been missing for 18 days when he was found. Exhibit: Excellent hand drawn map depicting distance between J. The defendant was charged with murder in the first degree. The weapons used were a pistol, sticks and shives. The victim was G. W. Lane

Victim was Clinton R. Jones.

Incident of 15 Aug. 1887, "in the State and County aforesaid unlawfully, willfully, maliciously, deliberately, premeditatedly, feloniously, and of their malice aforethought did make an assault and battery upon W. T. Dyer with a pistol, and him the said Dyer then and there being found in the peace and dignity of the state, …. did kill and murder in the first degree by shooting him the said Dyer …"

Dfnts. were accused of the first-degree murder of Mrs. Mary Moore, mother of dfnt Moore. Dfnts. were accused of attacking Mrs. Moore, then burning her house down around her. Two other bodies were found with Mrs. Moore, identified as two of her other children: Frances (a girl about 16 years old) and R. J. (a boy about 13). The fire occurred Jan. 1, 1932. Testimony vividly describes state of bodies after being pulled from fire.

victim: Thomas Goodson; Honeycutt shot Goodson in the head and beat him

The State charged John, John (there were two), Anderson, Clint, and Elisha Barnard, all with the alias "Barnett" with the shooting murder of Henry Sutton. The circuit court found them guilty and sentenced them all to death by hanging in July 1889.

Nelson Clay was charged with murder in the 1st degree for the shooting and killing of one Thomas Kyle with a pistol.

Victim was Monroe Wallace, aka Boy Wallace. Parkerson shot him with a pistol. Murder occurred in a pool room at Reelfoot Lake called Shaw's Park.

Addtl dfnt: Ora Stunson, dfnt.'s father. Both men were accused of killing, with a gun, Luther Dublin in July 1931. After an issue while fishing earlier in the day, Stunson came to the Dublin home and attacked Luther, broke into the home, and then shot and killed Luther. Stunson's and Dublin's were neighbors and lived on the property of William's Mill. Housed in 2 folders.

Victim: Fannie Stutson; shot Stutson with pistol through the leg, with intent to kill; also shot his ex-wife Annie Walker through the body

Wardlaw was accused of killing Ernest Wiseman. The murder resulted from an incident earlier in the day, when, at a strawberry festival, Wardlaw was pranked by a friend resulting in a Coca-Cola bottle being thrown. The bottle struck Wiseman's car, and the deceased went looking to start trouble with the bottle-thrower. After some warnings to not attack, Warlaw shot Wiseman in self-defense. Housed in 3 folders.

Fitzgerald was accused of the felonious and willful first degree shooting murder of Dorsey McMillan on Sept. 24, 1933. Fitzgerald appealed his initial conviction of 2nd Degree Murder. McMillan is variously spelled McMillian, McMilland, etc. Fitzgerald and McMillan got into a fight during a craps game, Fitzgerald came back with a shot gun and killed McMillan.

Victim was John Bradshaw. Weapon was a knife. Murder occurred June 29, 1888.

State charged Sam Holland with the murder of Willie Wright when the victim was at the home of Suzie McClannan, who first confessed to the murder for fear of Holland. The circuit court sentenced Holland to a life of hard labor at the state penitentiary. There are two executive letters that seem unrelated to the Holland case: One from the State of Tennessee authorizing an agent of Arkansas, W. R. Cain, to apprehend fugitive Cincinnati Pearson, the other is from the State of Arkansas appointing said agent.

Asa & Tip Jones, Lewis Gilbert (alias Moore), Western Gilbert (alias Moore), James Trent, (alias Prath?), George Cobb, William Connor, Samuel Burton & Henry Farrell charged with 1st degree murder in the 2 June 1888 shooting death of Anderson Greene.

Mack Scoby was indicted for deliberately, premeditatedly and with malice aforethought beating and killing Claud Crowder.

Crittendon was accused of "willfully, deliberately, premeditatedly, maliciously, and feloniously did with a hoe hit, strike, wound, [and] kill in the first degree murder W. F. Alexander." Dfnt and victim were first cousins, murder occurred over land deals While working at the Mount Pelia cemetery, Dfnt. Struck victim in the head with said hoe.

Dfnt. was accused of the premeditated murder, by gun, of "Uncle" Jonnie H. W. Davidson. Rumors in the town asserted Davidson was keeping a house of ill repute and were peddling the services of the three women there. Davidson was shot multiple times, one on the left side, one in the left eye, two in the neck, and one in the face. Davidson was threatened by Mr. Joe Warren the Wednesday before the Saturday on which he was shot, but he believed it to be a bluff. Housed in 4 folders.
