Plaintiff complains that the defendants broke into his home, damaged his property, assaulted him with sticks and threatened him with pistols. During the trial, a witness for the plaintiff described the event as a whipping expedition. Switches were made from bush and tree branches. Plaintiff claims the defendant, who was a Confederate Enrolling officer, came to and searched his home, looking for him. Unwilling to join the Confederate Army, plaintiff was forced to leave and join Burnside's army. The home is described as having a negro kitchen, barn, smokehouse, corn crib and mill.
