Hackney received a promise from the railroad company that a certain number of cars would be ready at Knoxville to transport beef cattle. He accused the company of failing to provide that transportation. Oversize "Rates of Transportation" table states shipping costs for agricultural implements, barrels, cotton, chairs, grain, carriages, livestock, and numerous other products. Plaintiff sued for $1,000 damages, alleging that on 10 March 1854 Zachry illegally took possession of a close and lot belonging to her, keeping her from it for a "long time". He also reduced the property's value by cutting timber valued at about $100.
