Pennington sued for $10,000 for Breach of Promise to Marry and Seduction. Pennington and Ferguson were participating in an affair, and were actually caught in the act by the defendant's wife in Dyersburg. Ferguson fathered at least one of Pennington's children from this affair. He repeatedly promised to divorce his wife to marry Pennington. Breach of Promise to Marry and Seduction were treated as separate charges. See WT1744 for child support suit. |
