Smith was living in the Davis home, and while there "began going with her widowed daughter, Gertrude Taylor." Though not married, Gertrude & Smith moved to a house in Cruze Alley. Davis often called upon her daughter to help w/housework, which Smith resented. The day of the shooting, Gertrude was at her mother's house & Smith came to forcibly take her home. |

The State charged Trollinger with murder for the 1894 shooting death of his son-in-law, William Posey, in the town of Shelbyville. The state claimed that Trollinger and Pose did not get along because Posey drank and often abandoned his wife Annie. The circuit court convicted him of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced him to 8 years in the state penitentiary. |

Watson was accused of the murder of Sam Hall. On October 15, 1929, Watson shot Hall twice with a shotgun on land subject to Hall's life estate. Watson was Hall's son-in-law by wife, Lorene. After Watson used Hall's mules the day before, they were a little beat up around the mouth. Hall threatened Watson's life and cursed him. Watson secured a shotgun, and returned to picking cotton. Hall advanced on Watson with something in his hand, Watson retrieved the gun, and fired twice in self-defense. In 2 folders. |

He claims that when she slammed a door the gun accidentally went off and fired through the door. Sally Clayton did not die instantly and William McBee did take her to the hospital. |

Chandler was accused of stabbing the victim, W.A. Campbell, with a knife over a gambling dispute. Campbell later died at a hospital after contracting Meningitis. Chandler argued it was self-defense. Chadler was found guilty and sentenced to seven years in the State Agricultural and Training School at Nashville. |
