James Woolsey sued the defendant and his wife S. E. Rogers for forcible and unlawful entry onto land he claimed was his.

View Entry 1843 James McNew & wife Rebecca v. Henrey Tobey Greene Land and Title Dispute

Rebecca McNew was formerly Rebecca Pack. In 1838, Rebecca Pack bought a tract of land from Tobey, with $20 payment. At the time of sale, defendant led plaintiff to believe tract contained 20-30 acres (at $1.50/acre). Plaintiff stated she paid $11 later. Defendant refused to give title, and had informed Rebecca that she had to surrender the land.

Seborn Jewel died intestate, owning 221 acres of land in Districts 12 & 13; also house & lots in Greeneville on Irish Street (2-1/2 acres). Property was situated so as not to be advantageously partitioned. Pla. asked court to sell land, divide proceeds. Pla. are Seborn's heirs: Rachel (m. John R. Moore), Elizabeth (m. Elbert Biggs), Isabella (m. James A. Galbreath), Mary F., David R. (minor). Suit begun as ex parte proceeding but when Elizabeth died, question whether Elbert or Elizabeth's siblings took

View Entry 1853 Trustees of Greene County Common School District No. 10 et al.v. Catharine D. Williams, exe. & sole devisee of Alexander Williams, dec., & James Wright Greene Land and Title Dispute

Trustees: John M. Kilgore, David Alexander, & John Jones. Add. Pltf: John Maloney. Dispute re boundary of 2-acre tract on which schoolhouse stands, schoolhouse having been erected per agreement by Hannah Wright to convey land (& to get minor son James to so convey when he reached majority). Dispute arose when Dr. Alexander Williams (now dec.) claimed part of 2-acre tract was his. Both Wrights & Dr. Williams claim title through original land grants to James Patterson. View Entry 1868 T. A. Arnold, et al. v. David McCorkle, et al. Greene Land and Title Dispute

Others involved: W. K. Vance and _. B. Westmoreland. Bill filed by the heirs of T. D. Arnold. Arnold, as auditor of Vance, filed an attachment bill against him and had the attachment levied. This was in May 1865. In 1868, the land was decreed to be sold. Westmoreland claimed to have commenced an action on the original attachment 10 days before Arnold.

The State of Tennessee granted George Brown a tract of land. The deed to this land was passed to John Lister and then to William Ealy. The defendant also claims the right to the land.
