Weaver and driven by George Scarbrough, carried around 50 children & 3 teachers when one of its tires blew out. The bus turned over throwing James Norman, who was standing on the running board in front of the doorway, from the bus, crushing him. Norman died an hour later. His parents were suing for damages, accusing the defendants of negligence. |

Plaintiff Jobs sued the defendant railway company for $25,000 in damages for the wrongful death of R. S. Patty while a passenger on the defendant's train. The engineer urged Patty to get upon the engine with him for the purpose of showing Patty his skill at controlling the engine. Another employee neglected to close a switch and when the engine with Patty on it arrived at the open switch section of the tract, he and the engine were derailed and crashed into another train, killing Patty. |

Testimony indicates that his father had been warned many times to keep his son away from the railroad tracks. In June 1898, R. L. wandered onto the tracks, had a seizure, and was run over by a train. |

In 1882, Charles McCrohan, deceased, allegedly got off the train in Cleveland, TN under the influence of "whisky or morphine." He reboarded the train but having no ticket or money was put off at Charleston where witnesses saw him wandering near the tracks and platform late in the night and early morning hours. He was hit by a train as he walked and died of his injuries soon after. Whiskey and morphine bottles were found on the deceased. The plaintiff sued and was awarded damages of $4500 prior to appeal. |

Johns, a street sweeper, came upon an arc light that had been lowered by light co. for cleaning. Noticing light was not bright, the plaintiff went over to shake it. He grabbed a high voltage wire and was killed. Folder contains defendant brief. Family sued for damages arguing that the lighting wires were not properly insulated, resulting in the death. A known charged wire above the beam shocked Bailey and caused him to fall to the ground, dying as a direct result of his injuries.
