He petitioned the widow and children to have the estate divided so that it might be settled, making his time as executor much shorter. |

Named plaintiff was the widow of G.D. Hancock, dec. who was entitled by will to $5,000 in cash, and a life estate in the remaining assets. By Chancery Ct. decree on Oct. 16, 1860, Hancock's widow used $3200 of her cash inheritance to purchase the land slaves of G.O. Hancock estate. At the time of Addean Hancock's death, Sept. 27, 1870, her remainder life estate passed by her husband's will to his heirs, the defendants. At issue was the valuation of the widow's life estate. |

In 1860 B. W. Mason recovered a judgement against D. G. Usery & F. P. McMillion for $150 and costs. Then he recovered other judgements of various amounts from the same defendants. The defendants were found to be completely insolvent and the judgement was transferred to Elisha R. Davis. The plaintiffs asked that the land belonging to McMillion be attached to the debt and sold to satisfy it. |

Sawyers borrowed $1,200 from John Branner in 1868. To secure the loan, Sawyers conveyed a tract of land to Joseph M. Logan. Logan, the deed's trustee, died in 1869 but never sold the land. His heirs were S. T. Logan and C. R. Logan. The Branner estate then sought repayment of the loan from the Logan heirs. Plaintiffs included John TalbottG. M. Branner. An exhibit includes the original note with eleven 5-cents internal revenue stamps. |

In 1860, Creech contracted to purchase from A. J. Cobb a tract of Hawkins County land adjoining that of D. S. Reed [also Read]. He executed three notes to Cobb, each for $1,183.10. Cobb later transferred or assigned these notes to Scruggs. There was some confusion over the land title. By the time the case reached the high court, Cobb was dead, and Creech wanted the whole deal cancelled. |

Plaintiffs issued attachment suit to levy Gray's fund of $2000 with the National Bank for the debt plus interest. |
