The plaintiff paid in cash $933 and executed notes to pay the balance over two years. The defendant convinced the plaintiff to give him one of the notes for $300 early and in return he would execute a note of sale for another part of the land and give credit for the funds towards his balance, but he failed to produce the deed. |

Asa and Eliza Teal had owned a tract of land for 7 years when Walker came one day claiming he bought the land and had a deed to it. Walker pressured Teal to sign a paper making him a tenant on the threat of being thrown out of his house. In pending case, Walker sued for unlawful detainer and to collect rents. Teal suing for injunction against Walker's suit and clear title to said land. This files contains many misc. deeds, notes, conveyances, etc. dating back to at least 1827. 2 folders. |

Wolf, a poor man, was employed as a miner when he decided to try farming. He made enough money to buy a horse, & went to buy Tedder's mare. The mare had a white speck in her eye that Tedder said was caused by hay getting in her eye. After purchase, the mare was blind within 6 weeks. Tedder had tried to sell the mare before, & she was always returned because of her eyes. Wolf sued for fraud. |

City Street accused the defendant of what was basically a takeover. It claimed that Rossville & Chickamauga did not intend to build and operate a street railroad, and that it was a company on paper only. R & C was "gotten up for the purpose of vexing and annoying complainant in order to force terms of trade by which it can buy a controlling interest….The deft has succeeded by zealous and persuasive log rolling" to impede City's constitutional right to operate a street line as its own entity. |
