In 1865 William D. Hardman of Mississippi owned a large tract of land in Williamson County. He was in debt, and multiple suits were filed against him with the aim of recovering the debts through the sale of Hardman's land. Moss bought a portion of Hardman's land during a Sheriff's sale. However, due to previous sales the ownership of the land was in dispute. |

Owen a tract of land and made an agreement to pay $4,896 over a period of time detailed in the agreement. However, after the payments were made, the defendants refused to execute a deed or title to the plaintiff, violating their contract. The plaintiffs filed the bill and were ready to executed notes for the remaining money in court to secure a deed of sale promised to them in the contract. |
