This case revolves around a 400 acre track that was homesteaded defendant Green, who conveyed it to John B. McEneen (et al) - as trustee to settle unrelated debts. Green did not satisfy the legal requirements for homesteading - The defendant resided in Nashville, and had for several yrs. prior. In 1880, Complainant was awarded this tract of land as a debt settlement, which Green had forfeited his right to.

Plaintiff, who wasdescribed as a freed-man without any education, claims that he entered into an agreement with the defendant to purchase a 70 acres tract of land with money received through the future earnings of a blacksmithing business that was to be set up on said land. Plaintiff further claims that the defendant agreed to keep the books for the business. Plaintiff now complains that the defendant refuses to give deed to the land as agreed. 2 folders.

In 1865 William D. Hardman of Mississippi owned a large tract of land in Williamson County. He was in debt, and multiple suits were filed against him with the aim of recovering the debts through the sale of Hardman's land. Moss bought a portion of Hardman's land during a Sheriff's sale. However, due to previous sales the ownership of the land was in dispute.

3 folders. Add. plaintiff: F.B. Hulme. Add. defendant: B.T. Owens .In 1881, the plaintiff purchased of B.T. Owen a tract of land and made an agreement to pay $4,896 over a period of time detailed in the agreement. However, after the payments were made, the defendants refused to execute a deed or title to the plaintiff, violating their contract. The plaintiffs filed the bill and were ready to executed notes for the remaining money in court to secure a deed of sale promised to them in the contract.
