Suit was to recover payment. However, witness testimony shows the bill was far too high to be fair. |

Mrs. Montgomery made payments totaling less that $200.00, so McCutchen filed a bill to reclaim the monument under the terms of the original contract. |

William Stuart began a retailing business with Dr. John Yancey in Warrensburg, purchasing their initial stock from Brown & Appleton. Their store burned to the ground in 1849. Although they still had their books, & turned them over to an official for record, when the debts came due, they were unable to pay. They hardly made a profit by the time of the fire. |
