Plaintiffs were from Massachusetts (bank located in Boston). Defendants from Georgia. Bank bought a promissory note from railroad to E. W. Kimball for $12,077.45 & Demerritt also bought a promissory note from railroad to Kimball for $8,060. Railroad refused to make payment to them on notes.

Hon. George H. Nixon, Chancellor, 9th Chancery Division. Deed conveyed, 19 acres of land to defendant, J. H. Bohannon. Property formerly of mother of Marchbanks (Mary) and grandfathers, David Graves and Hamlin H. Mitchell. Mother (Mary) deceased 1864, leaving Conrad as guardian of Marchbanks. Failure to register deed of properties by party (Bohannon?).

View Entry 1878 John B. Johns & wife, admr. of M. L. Johns, et al. v. John F. Coleman Rutherford Failure to Pay

Additional plaintiffs: John B. Johns, M. S. Johns, Charles E. McGowan, & Josie E. McGowan. Plaintiff sold and conveyed two tracts of land to the defendants. The defendant took possession of th eland in 1873 but the plaintiff claimed that the full purchase price remained unapid.

Additional defendant: Flora B. Johnson, wife. Plaintiff claimed he sold Flora B. Johnson a tract of land consisting of 346 acres, which he executed a deed in Dec. 1869. Defendants paid $4000 in cash and executed nine promissory notes. Plaintiff claimed that the defendants and failed to pay all the notes. Plaintiff requested that the property be sold in order to pay notes in full.

Defendant: Mary W. Quarles, wife. In 1873 Butterfield sold and conveyed to Mary W. Quarles a tract of land in Edgefield on Russell Street. Butterfield claimed that the defendants had not paid him the full $4500 on the property.
