Additional plaintiffs and defendants listed in file. The plaintiff was an elderly man who owned a life estate as tenancy by the courtesy of his minor children the remainder in a house and lot work $2,000. This was sold to the defendant for the inadequate sum of $435 at a Chancery Sale in 1887. The defendant failed to pay any of the purchase price, yet the Sheriff ejected the plaintiff and his children from their home.

View Entry 1889 M & C Railroad Co. v. Talbert F. Greer et al. Shelby Failure to Pay

Co-defendant: John W. Buford. Defendants had won a suit against the railroad after they were injured in a train accident, but they had been allowed onto the train illegally, so the suit challenges their right to sue since they were stealing services. The exact cause of action does not appear on the list -- it is partly fraud, partly conspiracy to defraud, partly theft of services. The plaintiff's hope is to invalidate the previous ruling. View Entry 1889 W. A. Atchison v. Jesse Miller, et al. Davidson Failure to Pay

Atchinson purchased $500 of stock in the Tullahoma & Hurricane Springs Hotel Company. After the hotel was established, the company went on to buy more property rather than repaying Atchison the money he invested, as he desired. Atchison sued to return the stock for exchange of its value plus interest. Exhibits include a 24 page brochure for the resort.
