Plaintiff brings suit seeking damages for injuries caused by the negligence of the defendant. Plaintiff was an employee of the defendant at its mining plant in Hickman County and was order to board a "dump car," with a defective brake. J. G. Briggs was an agent of W. B. Russell in 1873, engaged in the business of buying peanuts. He made a purchase from John Nix, Jr. to be delivered to Nashville. The parties signed a contract for this agreement. John Nix, Sr. was also engaged in the selling of peanuts. The buyers failed uphold their part of the bargain suing to enforce the contract. |

The defendant is charged with causing filth to be collected and remain in Piney Fork and Beaverdam creeks near its manufacturing facility. Witnesses living close to the streams claim the water is filled with refuse material, making it undrinkable and killing fish. Said refuse material was the result of washing ore and charring wood. The defendant was accused of shooting and murdering Wade Satterfield during an outdoor dance. During the evening the two men began to argue and were held back and separated by witnesses. At some point the defendant fired his pistol but did not hit anyone. Seeing this, the def. threw a rock or "soda pop," bottle towards the defendant who then fired two shots at the deceased. The def. claims that he believed his life to be in danger and only fired his weapon in self-defense. Add. documents located in MT 960. |

James, who was threatening to get the law involved if they did not. It appears that Fannie and Virgil did attempt to get marriage license, but Fannie died from eating a poisonous pear before they could.
