Defendant sought damages based on a contract the plaintiff denied ever existed.

This is the plaintiff's brief for the Court of Civil Appeals in Jackson. There are no other case files.

Co-defendant is Mrs. R. M. Jones. The property in question is a piano purchased by Mrs. Jones from the Hollenberg Music Co. Issues include her ownership of the piano separate from her husband, her husband's assumption of the loan after a period of time, Hollenberg's tearing up of the original contract and signing of a new one, and the fact that the piano was not made of walnut, as Mrs. Jones had been informed by the salesman. Several briefs are included in the folder.

Contract issue concerns the operation of a "liquor saloon business" in a property when the contract specifically prohibited such a business .

Mr. Marks of the advertising company hired Hansler to distribute to and post signs in railroad depots at Millington, Memphis, Capleville, and other unnamed locations in Tenn. The company claimed it was exempt from state taxation because the signs were printed in St. Louis. Because the company did not file a foreign charter w/the state, which was illegal, it said that the Hansler contract was invalid. Federal interstate commerce laws were violated.

Fleming sued Makowsky for debt due from a breach of a rental contract for the upstairs portion of 288 North Main Street, Memphis.

McFadden & Oates: George McFadden, W. L. Oates, and Edward Browning Jr. Barrier initially sued for $1925, the amount due on a contract between himself and the pltfs. Pltf.'s appeal only, see WT2075 for more files. McFadden & Oates were dealers in cotton. Housed in 2 folders.

Whittaker and Cunningham were accused of enticing away Jim Mackey, who was in the employ of Harvell, who then refused to pay Mackey's due wages because of breach of contract.

Cover is missing. Co-plaintiff: John McKinney. Co-defendant: Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad. Plaintiff was hired as a washerwoman for the railroad companies, who, she says, discharged her without cause. She is sued for $5000 damages.

Contract concerns the purchase of land and method of payment for same. Folder include 97-page printed brief.

Hayes sold Harvey a "Packard motor car, car No. 51374, motor No. 1121, and retained the title under conditional sale contract." Hayes has possession of the car and plaintiff wishes to get back the $200 he paid as a part purchase price. Plaintiff also states that the defendant told him the car was "in first class mechanical condition, and that he had been mislead and deceived by the false misrepresentation of said defendant."
