Thornburg convicted of killing Charles Mendenhall at a utility construction site. Mendenhall picked a fight with Ezra Hood after Hood would not lend him $2. A crowd gathered to watch altercation. Thornburg said he attempted to calm Mendenhall but instead shot him in self-defense. Most of the testimony reveals that words were exchanged between them.
