G.L. Ward & Vick, editor of newspaper at Liberty, came to Rock Island railroad station proposing to sell "sickle grinders" (aka mowing machine knife grinders) allegedly patented & designed to sharpen mowing blades. Hash agreed to buy grinders & exclusive right to sell them in Warren & White Counties & gave note to pay for same. Ward never delivered sickle grinders to Hash, but sold note to Cunningham (who had store in Rock Island w/grandson W.A. Moore), who sued to collect it. |

Brady executed a note for $384 payable to Lawrence McCown. The note was endorsed by McCown and J W White to the First National Bank. White, the last endorser paid and took up the note and then sued Brady in his own name without striking out his name as endorser or filling up the blank endorsement. Suit was filed to finally, lawfully, settle the debt. |

Daniel Sullivan one of the defendants lived in Lynchburg, VA and was not a citizen of Tennessee. |
