Add'l pls: C.W. Barrett, E.S., G.D., & C.M. Monroe, Moses G. & Sophia M. Copp, H.S. & Susan D. Smith, George W. & Anna S. Eastman, and Louisa S. Monroe. Barrett was widowed by Samuel B. Barrett of Boston, her children's father was Edmund Monroe. Barrett owned 20k acres of land at his death, leaving them to his widow, who divided & sold them to Edmund Monroe, who then died intestate. Conflicting deeds were discovered. Suit was filed to settle estate & land ownership.

The Robertson's as heirs at law of H. F. Robertson, dec. owned land in Lincoln County. Robertson died intestate in 1857. Hardy Smith was found to be owed money from the estate in the sum of $2384. Robertson had no more money, so Smith sued the heirs for the land to satisfy the debt.

Plaintiff alleged that she purchased a tract of land herself, however her husband's name was included on the deed of the property. Plaintiff's husband, co-defendant T.B. Anderson, sold property to defendant. Sale was made without the permission of plaintiff. Plaintiff stated that sale was fraudulent and void, therefore property should be returned to her possession. Catherine Jones was the widow of Robert Hawkins, then married S. E. Jones. William Hawkins was the deceased husband of Georgia Hawkins, whom had two female children Bertie & William.Robert Hawkins died bequeathing a large lot of land to his wife. Upon her death the land was to pass to William. The remainder of the estate was to be given to the children. Additional case, Whitmel Ransom v. S. E. Jones & Wife, et al. included in documents.

Nagle [alt. spelled Nagel] and Hall had made a contract in 1887 in which Nagle rented out his farm to Hall with stipulations regarding timber and crops. Separate contract made in 1888 for different tract of land. Nagle had demanded Hall surrender possession of buildings and premises to him. In a pending case, judgment was given to Nagle for possession of land, which would be done unless this court halted those proceedings. Judge ruled in favor of def't in both cases.

An agreed case made by the Clerk of Franklin County Court and the defendant, a distiller, to test the liability of the defendant to pay the privilege tax imposed on liquor dealers by the Act of 1881-1883. The defendant made approx. 50-150 barrels of whiskey and brandy per year on his farm. He consumed some, sold some to neighbors, and some wholesale dealers.
