Dispute over land in Ocoee District. Bruce had large farm, portion of which he had cleared as field. After land surveyed, survey line determined to run through that field, leaving Bruce's house in different quarter, & it's this quarter that is in dispute. Others mentioned: James Eaton, Lewis Ellis, Evins, James Nicholson, Scruggs, S. Finley. Jury ruled in favor of Williams. Land at issue: Southwest Quarter of Section 4, Fractional Township 6, Range 3, evidenced by Cert. of Entry No. 343. |

Plaintiff purchased a life estate belonging to James C. Anderson who had been engaged in armed rebellion against the United States and therefore lost his land due the Confiscation Acts passed in 1861 & 1862. Plaintiff sold the land to Hardin and Hardin transferred his note on lot to James Guardenhire and Guardenhire has demanded a writ of possession from the Clerk & Master and is threatening to have Gamble kicked off the land. |
