Daniel Sullivan one of the defendants lived in Lynchburg, VA and was not a citizen of Tennessee. |

Dispute related to land on Mulherrin Creek of Caney Fork in Smith County. Fitch Randolph and Daniel Hytton had supposedly owned the land but did not have title. Hughes had been in possession of the land since 1801 and John Orange had also lived on it. John Haywood was the chancellor in this case. The quantity of land (320 acres) did not fit the description that Hytton had given to Hughes. Also it was disclosed that Robert Douglas had a better title to the land. |
