Rebecca McNew was formerly Rebecca Pack. In 1838, Rebecca Pack bought a tract of land from Tobey, with $20 payment. At the time of sale, defendant led plaintiff to believe tract contained 20-30 acres (at $1.50/acre). Plaintiff stated she paid $11 later. Defendant refused to give title, and had informed Rebecca that she had to surrender the land.

Plaintiff brought suit against defendant to collect debt owed him in the amount of $200. Witness Soloman Bogart was indebted to plaintiff for $240, two notes which he then sold to defendant, with the stipulation that he pay the Renfro debt. Circuit court found for plaintiff with damages assessed at $110.65 plus cost.

Additional defendants: James Sutherland, Abraham Howes, Robert Seceaman, securities. As admin. Of James Standifer's estate, plaintiffs sue to collect $100.62 owed him. def.. Beaven, sheriff 1840-41, accused of collecting monies but not paying them over.
