The defendant was indebted to the plaintiff for an undisclosed amount and was sued for forcible and unlawful detainer of the funds.

Mead partners with Hamlin Caldwell. E. A. Mead & Co., plaintiff, sued Railroad Co. $166.60 for debt and $52.50 in damages. New trial refused, but appeal granted to defendant.

Additional plaintiff: T. G. Harris. The defendant was a business partners of David L. Kidd and admr. of his estate upon his death. Plaintiffs are seeking collection of past debt accrued from the sale of wines, brandies and liquors sold and delivered.

Dispute over piece of land that bordered both Baker's land & Proffit's land, bordering Mallinee's Branch (creek). After King built dam, it threw water on old road so Baker could no longer cross it, so Baker removed fence he had previously built on land & built a new road. Proffit then built fence on the land. Two mistrials, then 3rd jury ruled in Proffit's favor. Exhibits include 2 plats showing disputed land. Witnesses: David Sullenbarger, Isaac Stephens, Samuel Sherfey, Elijah Close, others.

McClanahan, plaintiff, had obtained judgments against E.E. Ellis for $106. P.A. Hodges, constable, was executor of judgment and levied Ellis's property and advertised them. During this time, William Massengill, agent of John S. Coile sued against McClanahan. In previous court Coile won against McClanahan. McClanahan claims proceedings were illegal because he was taxed by Thomas R. Dodson with payment of costs of attachment or injunction and his money collected against Ellis was detained by Hodges.

Dispute appears to be in regard to a debt involving the purchase of a mare and failure on behalf of the defendant to pay.

Husband of Ms. Turner was a free person of color and left his estate to her after he passed away. Ms. Turner was also a person of color. He left his estate to be divided between his wife and five unnamed slaves.

Plaintiff was sued for the public use of an alley. Oversize map of land in dispute located at ET OV 15.

Original case involves what seems like a civil dispute and includes several documents as to why it should be tried in criminal court, but the underlying reason is oblique.

Both parties had executed a mortgage upon a "negro man" named Dick on a tract of land that Timothy Hixon had possessed from the estate of Ephraim Hixon o secure payment of claims. Since making of mortgage, Roberson purchased from Pleasant Hixson a trust in the land. William Hixon asks mortgage to be foreclosed, the land and Negro sold, and the proceeds applied to mortgage debt. Does not want Pleasant Hixon to collect any amount for purchase of land or Roberson to pay for said land.
