Abraham H. Ditty filed this suit to discover whether or not Eliza McKinley had liability, or was legally bound in a previous judgement. Ditty had previously sued R. E. Fain and obtained a judgement in his favor. Eliza McKinley allegedly signed a security bond for Fain in the suit.

Thomas Townsend died intestate in the 1850s, & David W. & Daniel C. Townsend were appointed administrators of the estate. The estate was found insolvent, & Townsends holdings of land & enslaved people were sold to pay the debts. Suit filed in order to settle debts, resolve bequests, and to settle the estate.

J. W. Purivance owes two notes to Gilbert Moyers on goods, chattels, lands, etc. Purivance claims he does not because he got the notes at a discounted price.

McCrea sued for $10,000 over seventy bales of cotton that he insured before transporting from Nashville to New York by rail and waterway. However, a fire destroyed Harmon Cotton Compress where the goods were stored, destroying the shipment as well. McCrea hoped to recover the value of the cotton in damages, via insurance.

Osborne & wife Mary E. Osborn jointly recovered a judgment aginst Brown & Hicks for $464, upon which a lien was declared in favor of defendants. Defendants were unaware of lien paid defendants full amount. Plaintiffs later found out that V. F. Gossett, sheriff, sued for a balance of $50 on the judgment. Petitioner was told it was at the instance of George Brown who was acting as attorney for Osborn. Petitioner claims Brown had no right to act for plaintiffs.

The partners of the trading firm Lytle and Shields rented a pair of lots numbers 141 and 143 along Poplar Street now Poplar Avenue from Somervell. Somervell alleged that they failed to pay a portion of the rent.

Palmer and Hancock were executors of the estate of Thomas Hord. Plaintiffs sued the defendant for $2,018 by promissory note drawn by Grigsby on December 25, 1855 and payable three years after the date to Stewart Dimond.

This case is for a the petition of a tract of land, 34 acres, in Johnson County owned by the complainant and defendant as tenants in common. The land was left to them by their father, Leonard Shoun. There was a small body of land adjacent to the 34 acres but instead of getting a grant they had the original tract of land surveyed in connection with 34 acres and obtained a grant to jointly tenant for entire tract of about 370 acres.

Plaintiff sued defendant over a written contract that guaranteed payment of certain government claims sold to plaintiff by defendant. No county listed

This case is an appeal from previous case, previous case was regarding a debt between plaintiff and defendant. Plaintiff in error alleged that statute of limitations to collect on debt has expired. See also Box ET1642.

John Porterfield & the Nashville & Northwestern Railroad Company sued after the company was created in 1859, & the city created $270k in capital stock. The city then created a tax so that they might pay off the stocks in three years. The City failed to properly pay the debt.

Joplin sued Williams for $1000 in damages for the breach of a verbal contract made by him in June 1867 over a saw mill.
