Additional plaintiffs: W. S. Bruce, J. M. Hill, Sinking Fund Commissioners of the City of Memphis. Joyner also spelled Joiner. Bonds due from Memphis to the State. State accuses City of improper use of Sinking Fund taxes collected.

M. L. Foster sued the estate of Robert Nelson, through the agency of her husband, on a debt due Foster from Nelson. Nelson had issued a promissory note that was lost, however Foster had an affidavit. She sued for a total of $1000.

Purvis borrowed $900 from Barry and agreed to repay the debt within two years. Barry originally sued Purvis to collect. This case is an appeal.

Brady executed a note for $384 payable to Lawrence McCown. The note was endorsed by McCown and J W White to the First National Bank. White, the last endorser paid and took up the note and then sued Brady in his own name without striking out his name as endorser or filling up the blank endorsement. Suit was filed to finally, lawfully, settle the debt.

In 1868 a judgment was obtained against Gibson for $1399 for notes he wrote to the plaintiffs' administrative estate. The judge failed to sign the judgment. Suit was filed to obtain a legal judgment, to obtain the debt payment so that the estate could be settled.

Shumate sued over a note made to White, but it was found to be void and cancelled.

James D. Foresee administrator of Daniel Foresee, deceased. Matlock was the son-in-law of Daniel Foresee, who died in Dec. 1866. Concerns debt owed for care of Daniel Foresee during last illness by Matlock and wife.

Additional plaintiff: Matt J. Haden, partner of the named plaintiff doing business under the firm name of Davis & Haden in Louisville, Kentucky(wholesale liquor business). Defendant was doing business as Weaver & Clegg. John Clegg was his partner, but not a party to this suit. Plaintiffs claimed that various kinds of alcoholic beverages in the amount of $294.85 had been delivered to Weaver in TN on May 24, 1872, and that debt was unpaid. Def. claimed he had already paid plaintiffs for that delivery.
