Vannoy and Turberville were formerly partners as carpenters and builders, but in 1862 they dissolved their partnership by written contract. In the contract Turberville stated he assumed payment of all the debts. That same year Vannoy sold to Turbeville a lot 160, but the purchase money remained due. |

Miller was administrator of John Miller's estate, and Brown complained that the estate owed him for a debt of $32.97. The suit began in 1867.Entered into the record was a list of work performed for the late Miller: items such as hauling turkeys; a whiskey barrel (and much whiskey); ten days of work at fifty cents a day; hauling 2,200 pounds of bacon and lard; and waiting on John Miller when he was ill, deranged, and difficult to care for. Case provides a look at labor customs and the value of labor. |

Criswell sold 180 cords of wood @$3.50 per cord to Leek in March 1864. Leek paid for 90 cords and had his son delivered those cords to him. The remaining wood was left on the bank of the Cumberland River from where it washed away. Leek withheld payment for the washed-away cords of wood. Criswell sought payment from Leek who claimed Criswell breached the sales contract for nondelivery of the remaining wood. Leek claimed further the risk of loss in a sales contract remained on the breaching party. |
