An agreed case made by the Clerk of Franklin County Court and the defendant, a distiller, to test the liability of the defendant to pay the privilege tax imposed on liquor dealers by the Act of 1881-1883. The defendant made approx. 50-150 barrels of whiskey and brandy per year on his farm. He consumed some, sold some to neighbors, and some wholesale dealers. Includes details of liquor tax laws for 19th century. The circuit court ruled in Vinzant's favor. Mentions George A. Dickel.Also spelled Vinzant |
