This dispute concerns a leased mining property and a provision to pay to the lessor a percentage of the coal taken from the mine. Because other similar suits are referenced in the case, it is difficult to identify the names of parties. They seem to be John Fitzwater, E. F. Falconett, M. C. Dibrell, J. W. Sawyer, and L. S. Goodrich, H. C. Snodgrass, Joseph Mynes (Myrres?), and Benton McMillan.

Additional defendant: Perez Dickenson. Original bill – Cowan, McClung & Co. sued Mabry for unpaid debt on a note. Mabry was found to be defendant in error. This case was combined with TN & TN Pacific R. R. Co. v. George W. Mabry et al, although the particulars of that case are not clear.

Russell, surviving partner of M & R Russell, sued Mabry for $2,500 owed him and from him unjusted detained to his damage of $1,000. Defendant said he had paid debt prior to suit. Debt related to hogs sold by Russell to Mabry to be delivered to Confederacy for purpose of aiding and abetting "the late rebellion" against the government.

Evans, Fite & Porter sued Ghormley and his sureties for money he collected for them but was unaccounted for. The circuit court awarded the defendants in error $238.50 but declined to execute judgement against the sureties.

An agreed case made by the Clerk of Franklin County Court and the defendant, a distiller, to test the liability of the defendant to pay the privilege tax imposed on liquor dealers by the Act of 1881-1883. The defendant made approx. 50-150 barrels of whiskey and brandy per year on his farm. He consumed some, sold some to neighbors, and some wholesale dealers. Includes details of liquor tax laws for 19th century. The circuit court ruled in Vinzant's favor. Mentions George A. Dickel.Also spelled Vinzant
