For period of 6 years before death of John Vance Sr, Byas & his wife performed large amount of work for Vance, at his request, & promised to pay them what work was reasonably worth, but he never did so. Jury ruled in Byas' favor, awarding $95 in damages. Jack & McAllister got judgments against Hamilton (as did 2 others) & all 4 judgments were satisfied by selling Hamilton's land, at which sale Jack & McAllister purchased the land. Dispute over effect of Hamilton's possession on title of Jack & McAllister. Land at issue bordered Nolichucky River & included the William Anderson tract & the Soldiers Rest tract.

Dispute over contract to furnish lumber. Williams entered into contract with Clark & his partner Overstreet whereby they were to furnish to Williams 50,000 feet of fencing plank to be delivered to Williams on his farm near Mossy Creek.
