Guion's grandfather Henry Winbourn received a land grant of 400 acres for Revolutionary War service. The same tract near Murfreesboro was claimed by Hardee Murfree. Winbourn died in Hertford County NC in 1793. Murfree's daughter Lavinia married Frank N.W. Burton inherited his claim to the land. Judge Samuel Anderson later purchased and lived on the land. |

This dealt with Confederate treasury notes which was used in exchange for bank note in February 1862. The Union Bank of Tennessee would not honor the notes. The laws of War were in place which prevented payment of note. One year later the note was presented to a New Orleans Bank and they would not honor it either because it was Confederate notes. There was money in the bank to honor the notes, but in September, 1863 the U.S. Military authorities removed the money. |

Dispute over piece of land that bordered both Baker's land & Proffit's land, bordering Mallinee's Branch (creek). After King built dam, it threw water on old road so Baker could no longer cross it, so Baker removed fence he had previously built on land & built a new road. Proffit then built fence on the land. The Robertson's as heirs at law of H. F. Robertson, dec. owned land in Lincoln County. Robertson died intestate in 1857. Hardy Smith was found to be owed money from the estate in the sum of $2384. Robertson had no more money, so Smith sued the heirs for the land to satisfy the debt. |
