Plaintiff filed suit against defendant who won an earlier judgment against him for the sum of $35. The parties are sued over payment of a note, and the Circuit Court found for the plaintiff, as the delivery of a note by payee does not assign liability.

Maxwell sued Cate for $140 debt incurred for horse Cate bought from Maxwell for use in Confederate rebellion. Cate says transaction was fraudulent, as Maxwell knew the horse was diseased when he sold it, & horse died from said disease 2-3 days after sale.

Plaintiff purchased several tracts of land from defendant, however it was later determined that sale was illegal and invalid because defendant co-owned land with family members as part of an inheritance of Lou Devine, dec.

Plaintiff's father purchased a stack of goods and merchandise for her, defendant who is her husband was not to have any control over goods purchased. Goods were shipped to White Bluff where she opened a store. After divorce between plaintiff and defendant, defendant attempted to claim ownership of store goods. Plaintiff sued defendant to determine ownership of goods. Additional Defendant: C.O. Bull

J. Hightower accused of breaking into home of John Doe and ejecting him. Doe leased property from Smiths & Dewey P. and Elizabeth C. Hadley. Also named: Sarah Smith, wife of Alexander, only heir of James Leiper: Elizabeth Hadley daughter of Smiths.

Additional plaintiffs: Israel Fonville, James Jones, and John Tillman. Defendant was James Knox Polk, then Governor of the state of Tennessee, and to be elected president of the United States in 1845.

Pls inherited their grandfather, Wm. McKenne's enslaved bondsmen named in his will: Rachel, Ben, Phyllis, Benah. Their enslaved children: Hannah Riddick, Alick, Cass, Ben, Loose, Philis, Willis. Defendants took possession of said slaves & moved them from Tennessee before the estate was settled. Names misspelled as Uzzle. See additional docs in multiple folders in MT box 2a.

J. M. Shute &DroMills operated a firm as Shute & Mills sued Coe for breaking a contract. Coe contracted to purchase 200 sheep weighing at least 50 lbs. However, Coe refused to receive the second lot of sheep, causing great trouble for Shute & Dero in stabling and feeding them in the mean time. They sued to recover costs of housing and shipping.

The plaintiff, Morrison, was an African-American tobacco grower in Montgomery County. The firm of Shelby, Scott & Co., who owned a tobacco warehouse, was headed by J.H. Shelby and D.W. Scott.

Plaintiff claims that while incarcerated for the duration of a separate litigation, his property was sold without his consent, and he is sued for compensation.
