W. L. Donegan was distilling brandy at an apple cider still for Stewart, under a contract wherein each would get half of the brandy produced. Jordan was to pay the government tax on the brandy production. Apparently Donegan was not able to produce brandy that was worth drinking. Jordan had already paid the tax amount and sued to recover the money. |

The shipment to Nashville was allegedly confiscated by Federal forces during the Civil War. |

O'Brien brothers had agreed to pay $125 for Simpson's horse. Sale was on a Sunday and horse delivered to them. Simpson did not take O'Briens' note because it was Sabbath and def'ts agreed to come back another day to pay for the horse, which they never did. They held onto horse for unreasonable time without asking to return it to Simpson but then the horse died. Simpson sues for $130.98 in damages. Def't call for new trial, which is refused, and then they appeal. |

Defendants claim corn was slightly damaged, but Ruoff claims it was their fault for keeping corn so long in low, wet cellar. Gaines & Co. had shipped 245 sacks of the corn to Atlanta Mills who declined to received anymore due to corn's bad condition. Dispute over settling the account between Gaines and Ruoff. |
