Plaintiff is appealing the charge that he hired a "negro boy" to murder his wife.

James & Alvin Travis accused of shooting John Vandyke and Mellie Vandyke. Testimony: George Hobby, Raymond Hancock, Dr. L. A. McSwain, H. B. Sweeney, Walter Blackwood, Smith Lankford, James Sweeney, John Parkhill & Cora Travis. The Vandykes also testified. The case involves miscegenation: The Travis family accused John Vandyke (white) of raping their sister Cora, who gave birth to his child.

Cause of action: obtaining money under false pretenses.

Petty accused of maliciously shooting John Wardin (John Warden) in Parsons and was convicted. Witnesses: Frank Snyder, Richard Snyder, Bill Edmonds, Kelvie Snyder, Dodson Bowman, G. W. Fonville, J. C. Partin, Dr. W. G. Rains & L. H. Burke. This is possibly related to J. C. Partin v. State (1902), Box WT 843.

Indictment for assault to murder and carrying a pistol; incident at Florence Saloon, 154 Beale St., Memphis; against Jake Redmond. Much of this case file appears to be missing.

Second degree murder of Henry Woods during the arrest of Woods for carrying a firearm.

Cause of action: murder in the first degree. Victim: W. S. Bowers (half first cousin of the defendant).

File contains two briefs -- no case files. The defendant is accused of killing his neighbor, a cousin, during an altercation started by the deceased. Much is made of the changing testimony of the only witness, the wife of the deceased.

The victim's name in this case was V.A. Rogers.

Defendant: W. W. Thompson, alias H. E. Johnson.

Tharpe was indicted for murder in the first degree for killing Marshal Bomar, an officer of the law, who had threatened earlier to arrest him for unruly conduct during a picnic. He was found guilty of murder in the second degree. Folder contains 2 briefs.

Frazier is accused of assault with intent to commit murder for holding a six-year-old girl over a blazing fire until she was terribly burned over her entire back. One accusation is that he burned her to conceal the fact that he had already burned one of his newborn twins to death (he says it was the after-birth); another is that he was angry when she didn't bring him a needle he had asked for; another is that she slipped and fell backwards into the fire.
