Jury found defendants not guilty of trespass of a portion of tract in question, yet guilty as charged regarding the rest of the tract. This verdict set aside; later jury restored entire farm to plaintiffs. |

In its Jan. Term 1876 The Co. Court ordered the establishment of a new road that would lead from the Powell Valley road. After 4 or 5 miles of the road had been constructed the Ct. ordered it closed & discontinued on the grounds that it would serve no useful purpose to the public. Plaintiff argued the new road would be useful & filed a petition of mandamus with the Circuit Court asking it to force the County Court to open the road & finish its construction. |

Bowman had borrowed money from Carr, but Carr died before he could collect the debt. Ethan Hurst administered Carr's estate and attempted to collect for it. Bowman entered evidence in the form of a receipt--signed by Carr--stating that the debt had been paid. Receipt, a scrap of paper, was attested by [illegible] M. SC affirmed: time limit for suing not extended for minors. Clyde's dad worked in mine with him. |

Dickinson ran an inn in Tazewell. While staying there, Rogers stabled his horse at the inn. The highly prized horse was killed while housed at the stable. The horse's neck was caught between the stall & partition wall. Rogers sued to recover the value of the horse. |

Bowman) claims defendant was not a "good wife" and that he did not send her away and that charges of adultery are untrue. He charges her with adultery with names. |
