In a previous suit, Frederic Uhl successfully sued Peter Turney and was awarded a judgment of about $300. Greer was his bonded surety. Turney did not pay the judgment, and then died. Greer sued Turney's estate, of which Williams was the executor, in order to settle the debt. |

Hickman sold Maury a tract of land from North Carolina land grant #586. Several of these plots of land were sold to Hickman by James Hoggatt. The titles on the land were not perfect, and this suit was filed in order to legally sort out the chain of title filing proper ownership in the court. |

Joseph Cooke had an enslaved man named Henry. Cooke hired him out to Harris for a lease of one year, advertising Henry as a compliant servant. However, after Harris had paid a part of the lease & bought Henry clothes, he ran away. Henry was jailed, released by Harris, then ran away again. Cooke agreed to release Harris from the lease, but did not return the value of Henry's clothing. Harris sued for this value to be returned to him. |

They purchased enslaved people in Maryland, as well as horses, to sell in Natchez & New Orleans, & merchandise there to sell in New York. Rogers died intestate, Saunders made claim to his assets. Suit sought to settle estates. |

Karnes a tract of land for $600, paying $100 in cash and the balance in five deferred pay- ments. Prior to his death, the plaintiffs paid $500 and also bought the homestead from the other heirs. The defendant as administrator told the plaintiffs they owed more money for the land and therefore owed the heirs more than they were paid. |

Defendant states that the Browns had once lived on his place & that Pearl Brown asked for his help in escaping her step-father's sexual abuse. There was a warrant for J. W.
